1. Who We Are

Vela Beauty (“Vela,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the website velabeautyco.com. We are a direct-to-consumer beauty brand building the first foundation line formulated exclusively for olive undertones. Questions? Email us at nicole@velabeautyco.com.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information you provide directly

• Email addresswhen you join our waitlist or create an account.
• Nameoptionally, when submitting a shade reservation.
• Photos / selfiesonly if you use our Shade Match AI tool and consent to upload an image. Photos are processed by our AI model to detect your skin undertone and are not used for any other purpose.

b) Information collected automatically

• Anonymous device IDa random UUID stored in your browser's localStorage. This is used solely to track affiliate product clicks for revenue attribution. It is not linked to your identity.
• Usage datastandard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) processed by Vercel, our hosting provider.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Waitlist & launch communicationswe use your email to notify you when Vela products become available and to send updates you requested. We will never send unsolicited marketing unrelated to Vela.
• Shade Match AIphotos you submit are sent to Anthropic (the AI provider) for real-time analysis. If you check the optional “help train our AI” box, your anonymized photo may be stored in our secure database to improve shade-matching accuracy. You can opt out at any time.
• Affiliate click trackinganonymous device IDs are used to attribute product clicks to our affiliate partners. No personal data is shared with affiliate partners.
• Analyticswe use anonymized usage data to understand how visitors use our site and improve the experience.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following trusted service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Supabase (supabase.com)database and file storage. Data is stored on servers in the United States.
• Anthropic (anthropic.com)AI model provider. Selfie images are sent to Anthropic's API for real-time undertone analysis. Images are not stored by Anthropic beyond the duration of a single API call, per their data processing terms.
• Vercel (vercel.com)website hosting and deployment.

5. Data Retention

• Waitlist emailsretained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Training photos (consent-based only)retained for as long as needed to train and improve our AI model. You may request deletion at any time.
• Anonymous device IDsstored in your browser until you clear localStorage. Server-side click records are retained for up to 24 months for business analytics.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for AI training photo storage
• Opt out of marketing emails (every email includes an unsubscribe link)

7. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser localStorage (not cookies) to store your anonymous device ID and cart state. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, request your consent.

8. Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised “last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated to waitlist members by email.
